Formula BMW restructures for 2010

From the coming 2010 season BMW will concentrate on running its Formula BMW Europe and Formula BMW Pacific series.

Despite challenging economic conditions in 2009, the European Formula BMW series continued to maintain 26-strong grids in its second season.

Formula BMW Pacific has also benefited from integration of Formula BMW into the supporting bills of Formula One Grands Prix, as attested to by a steadily increasing number of competitors.

Christensen Completes the Perfect Weekend

Hungaroring, 26 July 2009. Michael Christensen (DK/Mücke Motorsport) rounded off the perfect weekend with a win in race two of the Formula BMW Europe Hungaroring weekend. From pole in both races he went on to take two wins and two fastest laps.

Formula BMW Europe: Rounds 9 & 10, 24 – 26 July, Hungaroring.

Success in the series has obviously brought Nasr to the attention of many influential people in the sport. This was obvious from the fact that in the Nürburgring he was sporting the Red Bull Junior Team livery on both his driving suite and Eurointernational car.

Series Goes Into Second Half of the Season In The Hungaroring.

With half the Formula BMW Europe season over things could not be tighter in the points’ battles. Felipe Nasr (BR/Eurointernational) currently leads the drivers’ table by three points from Michael Christensen (DK/Mücke Motorsport), although the Dane did briefly snatch the lead after race one in Germany.

Meanwhile Eurointernational has a ten point lead in the teams’ standings, having overtaken its rival, Josef Kaufmann Racing, after race two at the Nürburgring.

Nürburgring, 10 July. The weather at the Nürburgring may have been cold but the pace in qualifying for Formula BMW Europe was hot. As the thermometre recorded 12º Celcius Felipe Nasr (BR/Eurointernational) put in two laps good enough for pole in both races this weekend.
